Well, well, well, just when you thought you have seen all there is in the vintage collection of Japanese watches, along came Polly....I mean this KINDER TIME.

Based on the book: Museum of Japanese Made Watches, this was introduced in 1968. Made specially to educate the younger generation how to read the time off the dial of a  watch/clock, more importantly the concept of time ...... before they grow older enough to realise that time is precious and one can't turn back the clock.    It may just be a Citizen, and not worth a lot of money, but I think what is special about this watch is the spirit behind its creation making it A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF HOROLOGICAL HISTORY.  

Guess what?  The Citizen boy (NOT INCLUDED) standing next to the watch has the SAME EXACT CITIZEN WATCH ON HIS WRIST IN SAME COLOR TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!

D: Very nice condition dial with 12 grids showing the hours on the dial and the 5 minute interval on the outer track of the outer chapter.

Signed KINDER TIME (as in KINDERGARTEN) with the word CITIZEN written in Japanese language above 6:00.

Original hands set with sweep seconds.

C: Housed in its original case with snap back signed "C.C.P CITIZEN 4-230299 KA".

M: Original CITIZEN mechanical winding Movement keeps accurate time.

IS IT RARE? Well, this is the first time I have seen it "in the flesh" and the only other one I know of is the orange dial version which is kept in the MUSEUM COLLECTION.

Extremely RARE and highly sought after early complicated watch manufactured in the east circa 1952.

To all Citizen fans out there, I am sure this watch needs no introduction as you would have seen this watch many many times.........UNFORTUNATELY only in the Japanese Watch guide/magazines, I bet.

This 1952 CITIZEN Triple Calendar Watch may not have been labeled as a limited edition item like some contemporary watches but in my humble opinion, it is RARER than limited edition in its own right.

Search the internet, browse through the web and look through the shops, bet you don't see this frequently if not at all.

D: Very nice condition dial with light patina that adds vintage charm to the watch.   Subsecond register at 6:00 position. Day and month (ENGLISH LANGUAGE) apertures at 11:00 and 1:00 positions. Fancy shaped date indicator. Protruding Advance pushers at 2:00, 4:00 and 10:00.

Raised applied gold indexes and date graduation.

C: Housed in its original gold filled case with stainless steel snap back case. Case back signed "EVERBRIGHT BACK STAR".

M: Original CITIZEN mechanical winding Movement, just serviced and timed. In very good timekeeping condition.

Fitted with a new old stock vintage UNUSED leather strap that adds so much charm to the watch !!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU SEE ALOT OF SWISS MADE CALENDAR WATCHES, ONE BY THE JAPANESE WATCHMAKER?????  IN A LONG LONG LONG WHILE, MAY BE.  ANOTHER HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE for CITIZEN or any watch collector.

Personally, I find this time very charming and interesting....it is a feeling that I can't describe, but just love the vintage charm exuded by this little complicated timepiece from the East :O)

M: Original CITIZEN mechanical winding Movement, just serviced and timed. In very good timekeeping condition.

Fitted with a vintage leather strap.

Original large crown at 4 o’clock position.

CLEAR original Sapphire crystal.

Excellent condition original Rotating bezel with black srcipts (many are badly scratched).

Dial is signed SEIKO Chronograph DIASHOCK 21 JEWELS, JAPAN (between 30 min & 35Mins markers) and 5717-8990T  AD (between 25 and 30 mins markers).

C: Original Stainless steel case with caseback signed SEIKO WATER PROOF,  SS, 5717-8990, Chronograph 4D 00511. case measures 38 excluding crown, 40mm including and 44mm lug to lug.

M: Original Mechanical Winding 21 jewels Movement in very good timekeeping and chronograph functions. 

RARE? Well, of all the japanese watches, this particular model was chosen for the cover page of the book titled "Museum of Japanese made Watches". So what do you think of its collectibility?

Well, you see moonphases by Swiss Watchmakers all the time. One by SEIKO???

D: It has a Very nice BLACK dial signed SEIKO WORLD TIME AUTOMATIC. Look at the nice dial condition with Original world time bezel with fully legible countries' name. Bezel is movable by turning the crown at 4:00 position. NEAR MINT stainless steel screwback case too !!!

If you wonder what a DRIVER Watch is, you are looking at one with a distinctive design where top end (12:00) of the case is thicker than the lower end (6:00) to facilitate easy reading when your hands are on the steering wheel, what a thoughtful design indeed.  Breitling Bullhead and OMEGA Bullhead both have the same design concept but look at their prices !!!!
