LIP MACH 2000 TITANIUM MASTER CHRONO

LIP Chronographs were originally designed by Roger Tallon in 1973, as part of his Mach 2000 series. With the colorful protruding balls for stopwatch pushers & crowns set into an asymmetric solid stainless steel watch case, this is probably one of the nicest RETRO chronograph ever made.

LIP made very few of this model named TITANIUM MASTER CHRONO and stopped production of this design forever. This version is with the originally intended aluminum casing with metal bracelet & is also THE ONLY MODEL with ORANGE & TITANIUM colored pushers which distinguish it from LIP's other models such as Dark Master, Aeronef etc which are with stainless steel casing & yellow, red & blue pushers.

** Nowadays, most watch dials are made of metal, which has been processed, galvanized and printed in numerous production stages. But long ago, watch dials were frequently crafted from a material that has since lapsed into near oblivion: enamel. Enameling is a unique genre of the fine arts. It begins when a special vitreous material is melted in a kiln at a temperature of circa 1,200 degree Celsius, followed by cold shock procedure called quenching before it is mixed with fine enamel powder and applied evenly onto a thoroughly cleaned metal substrate. Afterwards, the object is fired in a special kiln at temperatures ranging between 800 and 900 degree Celsius. Enamel's peculiar vulnerability to flaws at this phase in the work results from the surface tensions which arise during this stage of the manufacturing process. ALL THESE WERE DONE BY HAND !! Considering the extraordinary high percentage of imperfect specimens which emerge from the kiln, it is little wonder that enamel dials are comparatively costly and that watches equipped with such dials, especially those with COLORFUL DIALS (like this HIGH LIFE), are precious rarities.

Memosail Valjoux 7737 COLORFUL Yacht Chronograph Watch, 1970s.

D: Original dial with various details. Before the start of a sailboat race, there are two guns, the first gun signals that the race will start in 10 minutes. At the 10-minute gun the sailors start their count down functions and maneuver their boats as close to the start line as possible for the start. The countdown numbers are large so the skipper can instantly see how much time has elapsed. The countdown chronograph is very unusual in that it is a wheel beneath the dial much like a date wheel. In the stopped position, the wheel displays "START". When the chronograph is activated with the pusher at 2 o'clock, the timer begins and the orange sweep hand is set into action. At 30 seconds, the wheel does a half turn and at 60 seconds it does a full turn to indicate 1 minute of elapsed time. The number 10 will also come into view on the wheel, which is the first minute that has elapsed of the 10-minute countdown. This will continue for 10 minutes until the wheel has fully revolved, and countdown passes the 1 minute mark and the race begins. The first 5 minutes of the wheel are yellow with black numbers, and the last five minutes are red with white numbers. It can also be used for a 15-minute timer as the word "START" is broken up into 5 letters, which can be used as a 15-minute countdown.

D: 100% original and MINT Condition beautiful silver dial with black ART DECO numerals signed ED HEUER & CIE, SWISS. Red tachymeter. There are 7 ORIGINAL BLUED STEEL hands altogether on this complicated timepiece. The register at 12:00 is the moonphase plus date disc, the one at 9:00 for the subsidiary second hand, 30 minute register at 3:00 and 12 hour register at 6:00. The 4 registers are framed with gold ring to give them contrast to the pearly white silver dial. The Moonphase/date disc is intentionally enlarged to give the owner an easy reading of the date of the day as this is probably the most used function on a daily basis.
C: Housed in its original gold-filled top case (with light signs of wear) with stainless steel back case measuring 34mm excluding crown, 37mm including and 41mm from lug to lug. Highly Collectible Rare Zenith EL PRIMERO Pilot Chronograph, Circa 1975. As you are aware, EL Primero is one of the movements used by ROLEX on its bestseller, the DAYTONA chronographs. Rolex has done the evaluation and adopted this movement, it is a true testament to its quality!

D: 100% original beautiful matt BLUE dial signed "ZENITH Automatic El Primero, SWISS MADE". Applied outer Tachymetre scale with raised hour markers, raised Zenith logo, three framed sub dials, and original sapphire crystal. 3 registers - subsidiary seconds at 9:00, 30 minutes counter at 3:00 and 12 HOURS counter at 6:00.

**Enameling is a unique genre of the fine arts. It begins when a special vitreous material is melted in a kiln at a temperature of circa 1,200 degree Celsius, followed by cold shock procedure called quenching before it is mixed with fine enamel powder and applied evenly onto a thoroughly cleaned metal substrate. Afterwards, the object is fired in a special kiln at temperatures ranging between 800 and 900 degree Celsius. Enamel's peculiar vulnerability to flaws at this phase in the work results from the surface tensions which arise during this stage of the manufacturing process. ALL THESE WERE DONE BY HAND !! Considering the extraordinary high percentage of imperfect specimens which emerge from the kiln, it is little wonder that enamel dials are comparatively costly and that watches equipped with such dials, especially those with PERFECT DIALS are precious rarities.

This is a very rare and highly sought after vintage Valjoux 723(a.k.a 72C) HEUER CARRERA 12 DATO REF:2547S Tripledate/calendar chronograph Circa 1964.

It has the look closely approximate the Vintage Rolex Model Ref: 6236, which is the vintage version of triplecalendar chronograph from Rolex which also used the SAME Valjoux movement. But of course the price of the ROLEX version is astronomical (more than US$100,000) now !!!!!    Thus the potential value appreciation of this HEUER version cannot and should not be under-estimated.

C: Housed in a very good ORIGINAL UNPOLISHED condition FULL Stainless Steel Original case with snapback. The LARGE Case measures 36mm excluding crown, 39 including and 42mm from lug to lug. Original Heuer signed crown and original round water proof pushers.

D: ORIGINAL silvered dial with 30 minute, 12 hour and subsidiary second registers. Apertures for Day and Month, outer Date Graduation with applied Steel Markers. Although there used to be an Ingenieur with a stopwatch function, what has never existed before is one with a fully fledged mechanical chronograph. Now, all that has changed with the arrival of THIS Ingenieur Chronograph from IWC, with its automatic 79350 calibre chronograph movement, small seconds hand with stop function and a chronograph with a central seconds hand and 30-minute counter. It has everything you would expect of a precision timepiece. And because the 4 Hz movement is able to display times to an accuracy of one-eighth of a second.

Another example of the watch's high-tech design is the outstanding reliability of the timing functions. This is guaranteed by the push buttons, which are an integral part of the case. Founded by Paul Arthur Schwarz and his wife Olga Etienne, the company quickly established itself. True forerunners of the watch industry, SCHWARZ ETIENNE operated several factories involved in design and assembly. Its know-how and mastery in watch design became a real benchmark. SCHWARZ ETIENNE thus obtained the concession to continue producing movements, even when they were subject to quotas and controlled by Ebauche SA. Its complications were to be found in brands such as Venus, Levrette, Glorys, Alpha and Astin, which were all part of its customer circle.

The search and demand for vintage HEUER watches has increased tremendously over the last few years. Especially since the “HEUER only” themed successful auction held by Sotheby which has resulted in HEUER now being taken seriously as a highly collectible brand which is relentlessly pursued and sought after by serious collectors in the watch world.

This is a very rare and highly sought after vintage Valjoux 723(a.k.a 72C) HEUER CARRERA 12 DATO REF:2547S Tripledate/calendar chronograph Circa 1964.

It has the look closely approximate the Vintage Rolex Model Ref: 6236, which is the vintage version of triplecalendar chronograph from Rolex which also used the SAME Valjoux movement. But of course the price of the ROLEX version is astronomical (more than US$100,000) now !!!!! Thus the potential value appreciation of this HEUER version cannot and should not be under-estimated.

C: Housed in a very good ORIGINAL UNPOLISHED condition FULL Stainless Steel Original case with snapback. ONLY VERY Light signs of wear on the case. No major dent or scratch. As a serious collector myself, I am reluctant to have it polished in order to maintain its UNTOUCHED, UN-ABUSED Original condition and will leave it to the new owner to decide. But seriously, it is nothing major and you would probably agree with me when you receive the item.

The LARGE Case measures 36mm excluding crown, 39 including and 42mm from lug to lug. Original Heuer signed crown and original round water proof pushers. The reference number in between the lugs is 437147. Inner case back is signed HEUER LEONIDAS SA SWISS STAINLESS STEEL.

D: I personally love the ORIGINAL silvered dial with 30 minute, 12 hour and subsidiary second registers. Apertures for Day and Month, outer Date Graduation with applied Steel Markers. The dial is in EXCELLENT Condition with ONLY VERY VERY Light signs of wear. All details are fully legible and clear as can be seen from the pictures.

Original luminous steel hands with original date pointer with blue Crescent tip. If you have not noticed, the sunken effect of the date graduation projects the middle part of the watch to a higher level and gives it a slight 3D effect that separates the date function from the chronograph's. Well thought through design ideas.

The watch has a very CLASSIC design that is simple looking on the outside yet you know it is technologically sophisticated and complicated on the inside. Perfect for serious collector who has it but do not like to flaunt it.

As you are probably aware, ZENITH has an exact model named ESPADA with similar features. This is because Zenith and Movado were sister companies in the 1960's-70's. As evidenced in one of the pictures, with a product tagline "MOVADO - A ZENITH TIME PRODUCT".

I understand that according to the Zenith archives; only 200 of these were ever produced: 100 Movado Astronics and 100 Zenith Espadas....
