Model such as this Tudor Ranger II stands out from the rest for its outstanding arabic numbered dial with large 6, 9 and 12 markers. The special orange hand resembles the Rolex Explorer II "Steve McQueen", which is also highly sought after by collectors and dealers alike !!!

BUBBLEBACK - The story of the Bubbleback originated in the early 1930s. With a semi circular rotor mechanism bolted onto the back, so thick that it required the back case to have a bubble shape to house the BIG movement, the design which gave the watch its special name - the BUBBLEBACK a.k.a OVETTONE (which means little egg in Italian). So famous is the watch that in the Asian market, we have our own version of nicknames, "TENGKIA" in Hokkien which means CANDY - is one of the nicer sounding ones. Well, the side profile of the watch case does look like a little candy.........how sweet :O)

OUTER BOX/ Orange cardboard outer box in very good vintage condition, with light handling wear. INNER BOX/ This is a really interesting creation. Comprise of a plastic Orange box with watch insert held above an original cardbox illustrations that suggest you could double up the box as an ashtray or as cigarettes,paper clips or peanuts holder when you have removed the wear to wear. Ok, this is "just" the original Tudor Orange Box for that beloved Tudor Monte Carlo of yours. JUST you said?? Well, there are Monte Carlos & there are Monte Carlos, what set yours apart from the others? Simple, what attracted you to this page??? YES! Admit it ..... it is this Super rare 100% original ORANGE inner & outer box set for that special Tudor of yours with orange hand....how many Tudor models have an orange hand??? I personally like the color orange for many reasons…To me, the sight of the color brings a smile to one’s face. It is bright, cheerful & so endearing that looking at it sometimes gives you butterflies in the stomach. =) Please don’t take my word for it, look around you now for an orange or something in orange color, see what magic it would do to your mood. “An orange a day, keeps the doctor away” ……

With the Tudor's recent re-edition of its Monte Carlo Chronographs, your vintage Monte Carlo has already become more desirable. As you are probably aware, the vintage models have been doing very well in recent auctions. Antiquorum's 20/21st March 2010 auction saw a Ref. 7032 Black dial Tudor Monte Carlo chronograph went for US$38,400 including buyer's premium (Estimate was only US$4,000 to 6,000) & it DID NOT have this box !!! Meanwhile another one offered by the same auction house on 11 Dec 2008 (See first 2 pictures) BUT with this similar rare box had a HIGH initial estimate of US$28,000 to US$35,000 before the hammer !!! Why? I would dare say that the difference in prices was mainly, if NOT only because of this rare accompanying box!!! IT IS RARER THAN THE WATCH.

An extremely RARE, super hard to find Rolex watch box for your beloved PRINCE watch. Rolex boxes are aplenty BUT one for the special PRINCE Model??? TRUST MANY OF US HAVE NOT EVEN HANDLED ONE......... yes that is how rare it is !!!

Top & bottom of the box are Upholstered in brown leather with only light signs of wear.

Press the button at the front of the bottom box and you will see a Silky material on the top inner cover that is signed THE ROLEX PRINCE. The silky material is still in very good condition, given its age.

The bottom part of the box is lined with velvety material with a opening slot to display your beloved PRINCE watch. Look closely and you will see the nice detailing at the edge of the bottom box, in gilt finish, giving the box a FRAMED look. Very nice attention to details.

The box hinges at the back and locks and flips open nicely and stands upright when opened. The cloth & leather piece that concealed the hinge & joining parts are still in very good condition.

With this box, your Prince watch will become a PRINCE CHARMING, no less....... Very rare too. A friend commented that RARE is an understatement for this box, what say you??

Considered by many as the base model on which the Submariner, Sea-Dweller, Thunderbird and Yachtmaster were built.

D:100% Original matte dial with GILT printing, signed ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL, TURN-O-GRAPH, SWISS-T<25. Original hands set with original sweep seconds hand with a little dot. Nicely aged tritium markers in beautiful condition with charming patina. A few of my pals have commented that it is one of the better dial they have seen on a 6202.

C:100% Original Stainless steel case in VERY GOOD Condition with light signs of wear. Case signed 6202 between the lugs and on the inside of case back. Original BLACK bezel in good condition. The bezel is unusual as it has markers for each of the minutes. 35mm excluding crown.

You are looking at one of the rarest ROLEX display items you can ever find to complete your Rolex collection.

A very early ROLEX display tray that holds 6 watches.

Upholstered in early green leather with 6 velvet watch holders that enable you to showcase your beloved Rolex watches especially the ever sought after SPORTS MODEL.

On the top part of the tray, it is signed ROLEX with its logo and a statement that reads: " MEN WHO GUIDE THE DESTINIES OF THE WORLD WEAR ROLEX WATCHES "

Overall it is in very very very good condition, the only signs of wear would be the two flaps in the middle of the tray, other than that no other serious wear & tear is noted, even the bottom part of the tray is in VERY VERY CLEAN CONDITION, evidence that it was hardly used at all......of course lah, it has been sitting prettily in the study of my humble home since 1988.... and this is one of the few times that it has seen light in 21 years !!!!

ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL "BUBBLEBACK" 1940s
WITH SPECIAL BLACK 24H DIAL

BUBBLEBACK - The story of the Bubbleback originated in the early 1930s. With a semi circular rotor mechanism bolted onto the back, so thick that it required the back case to have a bubble shape to house the BIG movement, the design which gave the watch its special name - the BUBBLEBACK a.k.a OVETTONE (which means little egg in Italian).

So famous is the watch that in the Asian market, we have our own version of nicknames, "TENGKIA" in Hokkien means CANDY is one of the nicer sounding ones. Well, the side profile of the watch case does look like a little candy.........how sweet :O)

Years gone and the watch store had ceased its business and I was lucky enough to have acquired this RARE ITEM. Kept it in my store room since for many years now, recently unearthed by my dear wife and now up for your acquisition.

A 100% ORIGINAL 100% AUTHENTIC Promotional Literature for the Rolex Prince from the early 1930s. Printed by ALEXANDER CLARK CO,LTD. 125 Fenchurch Street E.C.3.

SIZE: Measuring 18 inches by 9 inches. DOUBLE SIDED, folded into 3 parts (referred to below as PART 1/2/3) to form a catalogue.

CONDITION: It is more than 70 years old BUT is in VERY VERY good condition and looks so beautiful in my show room now !!! A very important part of Rolex history. ONLY some very LIGHT signs of wear and the natural folding marks (it is folded into 3 parts as a catalogue/booklet) are visible. This item is very well preserved because it was in the tender care of a very experienced, serious and famous watch dealer/collector who gave up his business in vintage watches in Singapore a while ago. To me, he was the BEST VINTAGE WATCH DEALER in Singapore Vintage Watch History !!!!!!!!

SIDE 1: Titled - the Watch for Men of Distinction :

Showing three different Prince models filled with important and interesting literatures and details surrounding the PRINCE model.

PART 1: Shows a Prince Watch with a paragraph that reads: Like a Real Prince, this super grade Rolex stands out among all other watches for sheer merit and distinction etc......

PART 2: The center picture shows a group of gentlemen and ladies gathered around a long table with a fine gentleman standing smiling with his left hand next to the Rolex Prince Box, guess he had just been presented with a beautiful ROLEX PRINCE watch. Lucky Chap, but I reckon he must have done some good work to deserve the treatment, probably one of the good deeds as shown in the paragraph titled: Occasions for which the presentation of a Rolex Prince are particularly favoured.

PART 3: Titiled : It's Perfect Accuracy

Showing another Prince model with a paragraph describing its accuracy and various features of the watch.

If you look closely, there are some pencil markings on the top corner of this part, which is SIMILAR to the markings (words, position, style, handwriting) on the pictures of the same item shown in Mr James Dowling's "THE BEST OF TIME ROLEX WRISTWATCHES- AN AUTHORISED HISTORY". According to the previous owner, who was one of the best and famous vintage watch dealers in Singapore during the 90s, it is the same item featured.

SIDE 2: Titled - The Rolex Prince - A Record of Progress and Precision :

PART 1: Show the Prince movement followed by POINTS OF INTEREST detailing various interesting facts about the movement that make the watch so collectible.

PART 2: Shows a picture of the Certificate supplied with each PRINCE watch.

PART 3: The Rolex Prince - A Record of Progress and Precision. - this is probably the front page of the catalogue when the whole double sided page is folded into a small booklet.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SHIPMENT:

The whole catalogue is double sided, folded into 3 parts. It is currently framed up with a wooden frame and cover with 2 pieces of glass. For shipment purposes, the wooden frame and glass will be REMOVED for 2 reasons:

1. to avoid any damage to the catalogue in case of broken glass during shipment and
2. to cut down the weight of the item for shipment purposes.

It will be shipped in a plastic tube to protect this extremely RARE literature.

ROLEX EXPLORER REF:5500

Today, watches like the Submariner, GMT Master, Explorer and Turnograph are known as sports model, but when they were introduced over some forty years ago, they were created for specific professions and famously known as the TOOLWATCH.

The origin of the Explorer dates back to the early 1950s, when Rolex began to test the durability of its bubbleback models as a utility watch. Starting from Ref: 6098 and 6150 which were given to mountaineers and expedition members including members of the British Himalayas expedition who conquered Mount Everest in 1953 and subsequently the name EXLORER was adopted. The watch saw numerous changes over the years, and many models namely 6610, 5500, 5504 and 1016 were introduced.

During these early days of the Explorer, Rolex was unsure of the model's potential. As a result the name was affixed to a number of watches not immediately recognizable as Explorers. By the late 1950s, Rolex released a version of the Air King (Model 5500) with an explorer dial. Recognisable with its smaller size, and 19mm bracelet instead of the 20mm on standard Explorer models. The dial was also marked "Precision" or "Super Precision" above 6:00 position which, recent evidence suggests they were sold to British military officers in the Far East markets.
